Beowulf

Beowulf is one of my favorite fictional heros. This picture is a dipiction of the warrior prince in his epic battle against a great dragon. Originaly this picture was going to be about twice the size with a more wide angle approach to show more of the dragon and some landscape. But at the time I could not find a piece of parchment as large as I needed. So I changed the entire idea to give an up close action feel to it. The idea was to show the shear power and desperation of Beowulf.

The original art work was done entirly in pencil on a piece of 10" x 12" parchment in 1991. It was later scaned into the computer using an Envisions 24bit Flat bed Scanner.
